This lecture will provide case examples to help look at the thorax of small animals and break down pulmonary disease into 5 differential diagnoses. Also how to address a case of pleural fluid and tips and tricks to looking at the heart. The abdomen will focus on how to determine if something is surgical or medical and some key points of peritoneal and retroperitoneal disease.

Kate Sippel, DVM, DACVR
Dr. Kate Sippel earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs and her doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois in Urbana. She completed a small animal rotating internship at a private practice in San Diego, California, and then spent a year working in small animal emergency medicine in Toledo, Ohio. She completed her residency in diagnostic imaging at Michigan State University. Dr. Sippel works with private practices, universities, and in telemedicine. She was a member of the ACVR Exam Committee and has lectured nationally and internationally on numerous imaging topics. Dr. Sippel is an avid horseback rider competing in Jumper events across the country.
