  • Providing high quality nursing care to inpatient/outpatient medicine, surgery, exotic and isolation cases. These patients require various degrees of treatment.
  • Providing assistance to ECC section as determined by supervisor and caseload.
  • Providing assistance to veterinarians and students with regard to inpatient/outpatient treatments and procedures, technician appointments/discharges and special procedures. Supervises and instructs veterinary students on SAM rotation.

Job Description - Requirements :

Basic Requirements: High school diploma or the equivalent with minimum of one year related experience. Basic computer skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications: Two plus years' experience in a small animal practice. A degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent and CVT are preferred. Candidate should possess the ability to handle a high caseload and stressful situations. Following direction and prioritizing the workload is a necessity. Candidate should have a good understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with veterinary pharmacology. Technical abilities should include patient restraint, good venipuncture skills, knowledge of fluid administration, medicating, monitoring and treating patients. This position requires good interpersonal skills in relating to co-workers, clinicians, students, staff and clients. Candidate should be a highly motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional attitude. Flexibility with work schedule is a must.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Schedule is four evening shifts per week one of which is a weekend day. Participation in a rotating on call schedule to cover third shift staffing deficits is required. Some holiday, both University and calendar, and weekend coverage required. This position is essential and is therefore required to report to work during campus closings.
